Public Hearing Notice
Notice is hereby given of a public hearing to be held by the Planning Commission at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2014 and by Town Council at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2014
at the Town Municipal Building, Council Hall, 215 E Main Street for the following purpose:
To consider abandonment of a Town right-of-way adjacent to tax map parcels 212 2 A T; 212 2 B T; 212 3 5 T; 212 3 6 T; 212 3 7 T; 212 3 8 T; 212 3 9 T; 192 3 3 T;
192 4 2 T and 212 A 3 T on Jeter Street. The request is being made by Rush Inc., 1540 Nichols Road, Bedford, VA 24523.
Information regarding this abandonment is on file in the office of Planning & Community Development.
Anyone who is in favor of or opposed to this request will have an opportunity to express their view at this hearing.

Traffic Alert: Traffic Pattern Change Scheduled for Route 460 in Bedford County
As part of the project to realign the crossover and construct turn lanes on Route 460 near Ole Turnpike Drive in Bedford County, the speed
limit will be reduced and a new traffic pattern will be in place beginning Monday, June 9.
The traffic pattern change will begin near Ole Turnpike Road and will include closing the westbound lanes of Route 460 and moving east and westbound traffic onto the eastbound
lanes. This will restrict traffic to one lane in each direction. The speed limit in the work zone will be reduced to 35 mph. These changes will allow crews to reconstruct
the westbound lanes.
The new traffic pattern will be in place for several months. The estimated completion date for this project is December 2014.
Real Estate Tax Bills
If you have a mortgage: Please rest assured that although you got a copy of your Town
real estate tax bill for 2014, a copy was sent to your lender as well. If your lender normally
pays your real estate tax from escrow, you do not need to come in to pay the tax, it will be handled as it normally
is. The bill you got is just a copy. If you do not have a mortgage and normally pay your real estate tax yourself,
then you'll need to come in and pay it by the due date. We apologize for the confusion this may have caused this
Notice of Writ for Special Election in Town of Bedford
A special election will be held on November 4, 2014, in the Town of Bedford to elect four members to Town Council
for the unexpired portion of the term of each of the four present council members whose terms expire on
December 31, 2016. Persons interested in becoming a candidate for this election may contact the Bedford
County General Registrar or the Virginia State Board of Elections.
