Extending Traditional Downtown Streets Traditional downtown streets create an intimate environment that maintains drive-by visibility to stores, businesses, and institutions. Wide sidewalks, limited curb cuts, street trees, awnings, and arcades should be used to encourage an active pedestrian environment.
