Town of Bedford Planning Office - Public Meeting
A public meeting has been scheduled to discuss issues related to retail and general commercial business development within the Town of Bedford.
The information shared and gained at this meeting will also be considered as part of the revision of the Town’s Comprehensive Plan.
The meeting will take place on Thursday, June 9, 2016 beginning at 7:30 PM at the Bedford Center of Central Virginia Community College located at 1633 Venture Boulevard.
The Town Planning Commission has been working for several months to analyze key factual date related to the community and to develop the framework for future goals and objectives.
Previous meetings have identified concerns about sign policy and parking that will be addressed and participants will also be given an opportunity to ask questions and present their own ideas for consideration.
The meeting will be hosted by Assistant Town Manager Bart Warner and questions or comments related to the event may be directed to him

REQUEST HAS BEEN WITHDRAWN - Notice is hereby given of a public hearing to be held by the Town Planning Commission at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2016 and by the Town Council at 7:00 p.m.
on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at the Town Municipal Building, Council Hall, 215 East Main Street for the purpose of:
To consider rezoning of property, Tax Map #236-3-A1 consisting of approximately 13.9800 acres, located on the south side of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Bypass
(US Route 460 East), and flanked by East Crest Drive, Fairview Drive and Link Road, Bedford, VA 24523, form Single Family Residential District (R-1) to General
Business District (B-2). The request is being made by the property owner, Hulls LLC, 4486 East Lynchburg Salem Turnpike, Bedford, VA 24523.
Information regarding this request is on file in the office of Planning & Community Development.
Anyone who is in favor of or opposed to this request will have an opportunity to express his/her view at this hearing.

Tree Trimming Notice
The Electric Department will be out tree trimming this season. It's necessary to keep right-of-ways clear in order to provide reliable service to customers
and make a safe work environment for line workers. Tree interference is the number one cause of outages on the electric system. Please be cooperative and respectful
of tree trimming crews working in your area. They will work with residents to minimize the impact on property and respect the environment as they work in the community.

Some Bedford residents have received phone calls from scammers saying they are with the Bedford Electric Department & that their power would be
cut off if payment wasn't made to the caller immediately.
Bedford Electric Department wants to assure residents that they do not call residents in this manner and all payments are to be made only through
the Town of Bedford. If residents have any questions regarding their account, please call: 540-587-6057.
The Bedford Fire Department will be performing hydrant maintenance throughout the summer.
During this process you may experience some discolored water, which is caused by sediment in the lines that is disturbed when the hydrant is opened.
Discolored water should clear up after running your faucet for a few minutes. Please call the BRWA at: 540-586-7679 if you experience any difficulties during testing.
