At milepost 86 along the Blue Ridge Parkway, twin mountain peaks rise to an elevation
of 4,200 feet, affording a unique opportunity to experience nature at its best. Since the
days of Thomas Jefferson, the Peaks of Otter has been a popular location to enjoy
magnificent scenery and beautiful sunrises. Programs and wildlife exhibits are available
at the Peaks of Otter Visitors Center. Walking trails, self guided wildflower walks,
picnic clearings, campgrounds, charming restaurant and lodging facilities make this one of
the most entrancing sites along the parkway.
