Electric Service
All Utility bills for the Town of Bedford are collected in the Treasury office. Payments of cash, check or money order may be paid in person, by mail, or the night box (located outside of the front door of the Town Municipal Building). Payments made in the night box after 8 a.m. will not be credited to your account until the next business day.
How to apply for Residential Service:
1 – Download & complete the Town of Bedford Residential Service Application by clicking the following link: Residential Service Application.
2 – Once the application is complete, you may email a copy to billing@bedfordva.gov or deliver in person to 215 East Main Street, Bedford. Please also include a copy of your state issued picture ID with the application, if emailing.
3 – If you are purchasing the property no further steps are required. If you are renting, please call 540-587-6047 option #1 to provide the billing office with your service address. You will then be provided with an account number and a deposit amount. (The deposit may be paid online or in person).

1 – Download & complete the Town of Bedford Commercial Service Application by clicking the following link: Commercial Service Application
2 – Once the application is complete, you may email a copy to billing@bedfordva.gov or deliver in person to 215 East Main Street, Bedford.
3 – If you are purchasing the property no further steps are required. If you are renting, please call 540-587-6047 option #1 to provide the billing office with your service address. You will then be provided with an account number and a deposit amount. (The deposit may be paid online or in person).
Customer Connect may be accessed from any computer, phone or tablet. Please follow this link to visit the site: Customer Connect Website.
On the new Customer Connect site, customers may: Make a quick, one-time payment or electric deposit with or without registering an account. After creating a new user account on the Customer Connect site you will then have access to your billing and account information. Sign-up for paperless billing

- Receive payment reminders
- View billing statements
- View payment and account history.
Utility Payment Service & Charges
We do have an outside independent service (sanctioned by the State) called Paymentus. This service is not free. Paymentus will charge a convenience fee of $4.95 for each utility transaction (maximum bill of $1000). You can use Paymentus by visiting our NEW Bedford Electric Online Utility Billing and Payment System at: Customer Connect Website or you can call 1-833-970-2238.
If you are moving into a new location in the Town and wish to have utilities connected in your name, please call the Utility Billing and Connections office at 540-587-6047.
