Crime Prevention
Business Watch
An important step in preventing crime or disorder problems that affect your business is to become informed about the kinds, frequencies, and locations of events that occur. The Bedford Police Department has created the Business Watch Email Alert database to inform you of noteworthy events occurring withing the town, such as:
- Lookouts for suspicious persons, vehicles, or activities.
- Patterns of activity, as in burglary or larceny incidents
- Reports of counterfeit bills circulating in Bedford Town
National Night Out
Bedford Citizens and Bedford Police - Working Together to Prevent Crime. It's a wonderful opportunity to celebrate safety and crime prevention success in our community - and to send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are ready to take back the streets! National Night Out is held once per year in the Farmer's Market. In 2010, Bedford Police Department won the "Rookie of the Year" award for our first National Night Out event. This year National Night Out will be held on August 2, 2011.
Community Awareness Program
The Neighborhood Awareness program has succeeded for many years, due to the willingness and commitment of residents and businesses to work together as a whole community to ensure that Bedford remains a strong, safe and enjoyable place to live and work. In the beginning, the focus was on creating awareness groups for each neighborhood. But we found out what effects one neighborhood affects us all. Beginning in 2014, we will address issues as a whole community. Which leads to the new name, Community Awareness. Meetings are held every second Thursday of each month, starting at 6:30 p.m. They are held at:
Town Municipal Building
215 E Main Street
3rd Floor
